National Fire Prevention Week

Beginning October 6-12, 2024, the Sheridan Fire-Rescue Department will join communities across the Country in observance of National Fire Prevention Week.  This year's Fire Prevention Week campaign is "Smoke alarms: Make them work for you!"  The theme works to educate everyone about the important actions they can take to keep themselves and those around them safe.  Practicing fire prevention, having working smoke detectors, and developing a fire escape plan will greatly increase your family's changes of escaping a home fire.

During Fire Prevention Week, Sheridan Fire-Rescue will host tours of the fire station for the local elementary schools.  The students visiting the fire station will have the opportunity to see the fire engines, ambulances, equipment, protective gear, and where the firefighters live while they are working their 24-hour shift.

On October 12th, 2024, Sheridan Fire-Rescue will host an open house at 212 East Works Street.  The event will run from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm.  Sheridan Firefighters will be offering tours of the fire station, smoke detector and fire safety information, and the junior firefighter combat challenge course.  Please plan on visiting your local fire station and firefighters.

Firesafe Kit  
Hello I am Division Chief Chad Brutlag, from your Sheridan Fire-Rescue Department. In partnership with the Wyoming State Fire Marshal’s Office and Fire Departments around the state, we have formed the 307CRR initiative to focus on Community Risk Reduction in Wyoming.

Wyoming has suffered the loss of far too many of our citizens from fires in homes that utilize home oxygen. We have identified a simple device that will combat this problem thereby reducing the risk of injury and death to you, your family, and responding Firefighters while simultaneously slowing fire spread and limiting damage to your property.

The Firesafe valve is an easily installed device that will shut off the flow of oxygen when it is exposed to fire. Smoke Detector / Carbon Monoxide Detector

Sheridan Fire-Rescue would like to remind everyone that it is the time of the year when Daylight Savings Time Ends that we all need to check and replace batteries in our smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors.  When purchasing new detectors, please check the date on the back of the detector and make sure it is not expired.  Please check out our video  that  Public Education Chairman Firefighter Zach McLain has put together. 
 




Sheridan Fire-Rescue Child Passenger Safety Program Reopening

As of April 19, 2021, Sheridan Fire-Rescue (SFR) Child Passenger Safety Technicians (CPST) will begin to provide inspections and installations for the public with direct-contact meetings.  The CPST will operate under the following guidelines:

1.  Scheduling: All car seat inspections/installations shall be scheduled on Tuesdays from 5:00-6:00 p.m. and Fridays from 9:00-10:00 a.m.  There shall be no more than two inspections scheduled per time frame.  If these dates and times do not work, please call and leave your name and phone number and a CPST will call you back and schedule a different date and time.  Please call 307-674-7244 to schedule your inspection/installation.

2.  Drop-ins are discouraged at this time, but will be evaluated for urgency of immediate need for help based on the safety of the child(ren) and our personnel.

3.  Emergency Inspections/Installations:  When unforeseeable circumstances arise, such as vehicle crashes or other safety factors, please call 307-674-7244.
