The City of Sheridan Utilities Department (Department) gives oversight to the daily operations, maintenance and repair of the City's utilities infrastructure, including Sheridan Area Water Supply (SAWS) and Downer Neighborhood Improvement & Service District (DNISD). The Department is also responsible for overseeing refuse collection, recycling and daily operations within the Solid Waste Division. The Utilities Director works closely with division managers to ensure their processes are effective and beneficial within the department as it pertains to the role of government and in serving the public.

Utilities Administration provides executive and administrative support and services to all divisions within the Utilities Department. Administration performs the following functions: 
  • Creates annual operating budgets for the above listed divisions
  • Conducts statistical and financial analysis to determine the Department's financial health and position
  • Establishes and implements policies and procedures
  • Assesses the need to adjust water, sewer, and solid waste rates
  • Provides budgeting and managing of department funds for the development, allocation, and dispersion of capital projects and ongoing operations. 
Utilities Administration also acts as a liaison with other City departments, as well as Federal, State and local organizations; and, regulatory agencies on all water, sewer and solid waste issues.
